The Strawberry Blonde

I remember hearing somewhere that one should never dye strawberry blonde hair strawberry blonde, as it will turn pink.
Will ginger also turn pink? Is that just a myth anyway? My hair is a light ginger color, and I want to add strawberry blonde highlights. Will it work? Or will I mess up my hair?
I should clarify; I’m not going in for traditional “highlights” but simply making streaks of my hair a little redder. Because of the shade of my hair, redder = brighter, so I said highlights. Really, what I’m planning to do is make those parts of my hair redder.

I always bleach the ends of my hair blonde, and some parts of my hair, cuz tht just naturally looks good with strawberry BLONDE hair. but i was thinking of maybe bleaching it so its white, then dying it a color? [ not the whole head just like the ends again] but i dont think any color would look good in my hair except blonde.. what do you think?
