How do I get my hair from Blonde to brown?

I have been dying my hair blonde for about a year. I switch back and forth from Loreal and Feria. The last time I used Feria was about 3 weeks ago, and the 2 times before that I used Loreal. I really want to go dark, but I hear if you have blonde hair, when you try to dye it dark it can turn it green. How do I get it to go dark without making it turn green? Thank you.

it won’t go green! if you have naturally bleach-blonde hair and you go into a pool, then it will turn green. you ccan just color your hair dark and it shouldn’t be a problem.

I’ve never heard of hair turning green by dying it darker! I know that if you’re blonde and you swim a lot the chlorine turns it green. But that is ridiculous! I used to be blonde and about a year ago decided to dye my hair brown. I didn’t have any problems at all. My mom is a hairdresser, so I have done all kinds of stuff to my hair and it’s never been green before! The only thing about going from blonde to brown is the blonde will start coming through as the brown hair color fades, but it will just look like highlights. I guess it depends on your natural hair color though. I wouldn’t worry about your hair turning green…either go to a salon and have a professional do it or make sure you check the shades on the box if you get color from the store. I hope this helps!

I dyed my hair blonde for about a year as well. Be cautious that your hair can fade back to blonde after dying it back brown. It happened to me twice. I’d consider going to a professional because that’s the only sure way to get it the right color, and if it turns back or fades, they should redye it for free. of course check with them first.

yes it can turn green. I am a hairdresser and a went to a paul Mitchell school 3 yrs ago.. they put alot of emphasis on color… now i work at a high end salon. blonde hair has had all of the pigment taken out so simply putting a brown shade can make it look like mud. This isn’t a really big problem, though, for very warm blondes aka “golden” or “strawberry” mainly only pale blondes. It is complicated but basically when you bleach hair you strip it in layers.. from blue(black) to violet to red to orange to yellow(blonde)… so you need to put these colors BACK into you hair before coloring going dark again. a stylists calls this a “fill” .. basically if you were my client i would “fill” your hair with a coppery gold color (depending on your shade and desired results) with a semi permanent for 10 mins then apply the permanent color directly over that. This will result in a natural deep looking brown. I suggest going to a salon but if you insist on doing it at home i would find a shade of brown that is on the warmer side.. not to give you red hair but simply to counter act the green.

oh and dont go for a warm “golden” because this has yellow and can contribute to the green.. go more for a orange or red undertone.. and if you are scared then buy a neutral and a warm and mix them… but seriously i would go to a professional because it could come out very green or very red if you dont know what you are doing!!!!
